Art Resin

When Art Resin asked me to be one of their featured artists I immediately said yes! I use Art Resin to add a glossy finish to pieces; what is most important to me is the UV protection it provides. Art Resin sent me a 32 oz. resin kit and I was allowed to run wild and make whatever inspired me; you can see the results below and read a bit more about how I discovered and why I use Art Resin.

Color is extremely important in my work, so I started out by testing how various colors of Art Resin’s Resin Tint would hold up when used to create the “petal” motif seen in much of my work. After seeing all of the possibilities, I decided to make the boldly colored triptych seen above. Coating the finished works with resin made the saturated colors really pop and added that last bit of je ne sais quoi to the pieces.

I had never considered using resin to finish my art before discovering Art Resin (thanks to the amazing Tina Yu) and that’s because I had spent years making resin jewelry! I grew to dislike everything about working with resin; from the fumes, the yellowing, and worst of all - how hard it was to clean off when I inevitably got it on myself. Art Resin being low-fume, having great UV protection, and that I can clean it off my skin with rubbing alcohol and a paper towel are just a few of the reasons it is the only resin brand I will ever use on my art.
